I began reading this because of the archaeological part of the plot, and at first it was engrossing. Then it drags on and on, and Brennan's ex-lovers get involved, and that's not nearly as interesting as you might hope. So many characters are thrown in, new ones in every chapter, that keeping track of them is not possible. Nor, after a while, did I want to. Spoiler alert: the solution hangs on an eyelash. But if you read that far you will already have figured out the main parts of the plot and who most of the bad guys are. And, like me, by then you probably won't care.
