Whirlwind

the American Revolution and the War That Won It

A very readable account of the War from the first flutterings of unrest in America to the surrender at Yorktown - this is like a history class in one easy book. Ferling takes care to keep both the American side and the British in sight, and often gives very sharp focus on the economic motivations acting on both (far beyond, in his opinion, mere ideals).
