Shelter

a Mickey Bolitar Novel
Nov 07, 2014
The Guardian review is harsher than my own reaction to the book's writing although there are several areas where I agree. Particularly, the plot has weaknesses and odd hops in logic. The most unnecessary weakness of the book is the setting and role of the Bat Lady character. Redeeming these weaknesses are flashes of solid writing which made this reader finish the book in a more or less continuous read. If you can suspend judgement on the weaknesses in the plot (generally a given in books for teens which usually have a few unlikely coincidences) then you'll find this a worthwhile book to read during a winter's snow day.
