A classic of horror and science fiction, H.G. Wells' Invisible Man is worth reading. In a voice oddly yet compellingly objective, the narrator describes the arrival and subsequent actions of the scientist who is barely holding onto his sanity after turning himself invisible. The Invisible Man slowly unravels over the course of this captivating story, and we see the horror and fear that his existence creates rapidly increase as he becomes known by nearby villagers. Although the story seems to slow at times, Wells expertly crafts a narrative that is acutely analytic of society and science while also reflecting the dormant fear that mankind fears – the monster we cannot see but may just exist among us.
