I was a big fan of the series, but this movie was disappointing. The parade and ballroom scenes were technically more complicated than anything that I can remember in the series, so kudos for that. The costume and set design were excellent as usual, but marred by poor lighting. The plot, if you could call it that, was trite and predictable, and the acting seemed like everyone was just tired of the SOS. The bonus features actors' roundtable had them joking that the movie could be the start of a franchise, much like Star Trek. One would hope not. Seasons 5 & 6, followed by this movie, exhibit a continuing downward trend in the creativity and wit that were the hallmark of the first 4 seasons. Overall, the movie was 2 hours of extremely forgettable much ado about nothing.

I really enjoyed the series, so I was excited to watch the movie. Overall, an ok movie. I liked seeing all my favourite characters again, and there were some lovely scenes and good character development, but the main plot of the Queen coming to Downton for dinner was a little boring and it felt like it dragged on.

Charming! I especially enjoyed listening to the actors discuss their roles in the Special Features. It was like watching and listening to modern day Crawleys.

It's probably the start of a movie franchise. Not as good as the original series.

This movie is a delight! Do not listen to the bah humbug reviews. Any Downton Abbey fan will love to revisit the Crawley family and staff in this wonderful continuation. I saw the movie in the theatres, people applauded at the ending. I watched it again at home, and enjoyed it all over again. I look forward to the next instalment!

I felt the movie was lacking in British temperament, as though it was written to appeal to an American audience--too "cutesy" as compared to the series. I attended the one night preview and came away disappointed. Having said that, I'll still watch it again--maybe I just wasn't in the right frame of mind at the time.

Dear God, this was boring. Everything was predictable. It just was an overly long episode, glad we did not pay to view it. Poor folks that did. P.S. I am...oops..was a fan of the series.

I had only seen snippets of the TV show, but still found this follow-up film accessible. I couldn't tell you anybody's name, but the film does a good job of setting up its world for new viewers. It's funny, soapy, and the cast is fantastic. If you like period British dramas, I would recommend it.

An adequate coda to the series. Fans will be happy to be reacquainted with familiar characters and attractive new ones.
