In the sleepy small town of Centerville, something is not quite right. The moon hangs large and low in the sky, the hours of daylight are becoming unpredictable, and animals are beginning to exhibit unusual behaviors. No one quite knows why, and no one foresees the strangest and most dangerous repercussion that will soon start plaguing the town. The dead rise from their graves and savagely attack and feast on the living, and the citizens of the town must battle for their survival.

The typically excellent Jim Jarmusch (Stranger Than Paradise, Ghost Dog, Only Lovers Left Alive) delivers a true stinker with this goofy zombie comedy. Zombie movies are a great vehicle for social commentary, and while the film is full of that, Jarmusch delivers it with the subtlety of a hammer (to the head). It's a shame considering how stacked this cast is (Adam Driver is particularly funny), and while the film does have its moments, it has one note that gets played out within ten minutes.

really dumb movie, but fun at times. Very unnecessary political references.

This is a Jim Jarmusch film? “Stranger than Paradise” Director? I’ve seen a few, but not all, of his films. And am disappointed. I’d put this on under “Really?”. “Are You Kidding?”
Stupid is pretty succinct. Boarder line boring, will this ever end is another category.
Good to know Iggy Pop is ready for any zombie movie with his unseemly hair, sallow skin and physical decrepitness.

Tom Waits. Do I need to say any more? I don't think so. And the Oscar for best supporting actor goes to?? You guessed it - Tom Waits. Oh yeah, Bill Murray and Adam Driver are also in this.

***My review contains mild spoilers***

Excellent deadpan humor in a climate change parable that isn't revealed from the trailers; I feel like many people who go into it expecting a standard zombie movie can come away disappointed, but I found it refreshing to be misled a bit by the promotional content!

Phenomenal cast, great visuals, and a good story that, I'll admit, is hurt a bit by some pacing issues. Still, well worth your time to see how this slow burn pans out if you want to try something new!

I really wanted to like this movie. The cast was freaking awesome and some of them were really trying to make this work, but the movie really kind of missed the mark. The dialogue was half-hearted, the pacing made snails look like the Flash, and they were trying way too hard for dry irony and forgot all about entertainment.

This was worse than cats

Bill Murray is still awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed this film.

Deadpan, dry humor and references to the George Romero zombie films is the good part. Uneven pacing hurts the flow of the story. Starts out strong, loses a bit of steam along the way, but still a nice take on the genre.

This zombie movie deserves cult status because of the all-star cast. It seemed to go through without a lot of rehearsal and that's when I realized that they may have wanted to give it a B-rated appearance, but two thumbs up for this one!
