Based on the bestselling book by Jonathan Safran Foer and narrated by co-producer Natalie Portman, this is an urgent, eye-opening look at the environmental, economic, and public health consequences of factory farming. It offers attainable, common-sense solutions to a growing crisis while making the case that ethical farming is not only an animal rights issue but also one that affects every aspect of life.

Like all movies about the politics of industrialized farming, very effectively exposes the environmental degradation and animal torture hidden away from public view, filmed on the fly in secret. Very upsetting. Called "Ag-Gag", the industry has a lot to be ashamed of.
You want cheap food, this is the price we pay.

It's not really new information, but it's definitely worth watching. If nothing else, the turkey talk is fascinating!

The problem with farm factories in the USA- depicted in this movie,-is that everything about animal meat processing that happens therein- is kept a secret. This is regulated by ag-gag orders in some 30 states or so which in the meantime allows the abuse of animals and the wasteful practice of throwing away the remnants of butchery. You can be arrested in the USA for filming or taking audio recordings from theses factories, further putting you risk of being accused as a terrorist and involving criminal prosecution by the FBI.
