For those who've reached a point in their lives where they've decided to actually learn something about the history of their country, this book is a good place to start. Read about the search for the ever-elusive North-West passge, isolated outposts on the shores of a vast wilderness, mutinies, kidnappings, native on native violence, French on native violence, British on French violence, American on British/ Canadian/native violence (and vice versa), genocide, World Wars, riots and, of course, a long line of politicians that we love to hate. Whatever you may have thought about Canadian history, this book makes it anything but boring.
