Good book. There will be an obvious comparison to the "Dublin Murder Squad" books of Tania French, and I believe it is justified. This novel is set in a Crime squad in Galway (Ireland) but it is not just the setting where there are similarities; the interpersonal relations, the office politics, the comradery and the treachery - and an interesting plot. I am looking forward to the next entry in the series.
Very much enjoyed this book. Quite impressed with the fact that this is the authors's first book. I certainly will read her next.

Great read! This author's debut is a compelling, character driven story that kind of sneaks up on you. If you're a fan of car chases & shootouts, look elsewhere. It's a slow burner with an edge that subtly builds tension as you become fully invested in the characters & their outcomes. Multiple story lines keep things moving but most of the action is reserved for an explosive finish. Hopefully, some unanswered questions mean a sequel is in the works & comparisons to Tana French are justified.
I think I learned about this book from a review in The Seattle Times. Really enjoyed a police procedural starring a a man who had moved for his partner's career. Great local flavor, layered mysteries and includes a short excerpt of the next book (coming in 2019) . SPL, please order some copies!
