An unusual story - the horrors of War, the lust of the SS Colonel for, and the love felt by Shtefan for the beautiful Gabrielle. The plot moves quickly and I became fully connected to the players.
This book starts out slow, but it sets up the rest of the story. Imagine how it must be to live knowing that any moment your "master" can put a bullet in your head because you are 1/2 Jewish. Doesn't make you feel any more at ease because you love your "master's" concubine.
Its a good tale of war, love and a crime story all rolled into one. Its summer, take it on plane, or to the beach. You read it in 1 or 2 sittings and will enjoy it. For readers who like a "light" war story, love story and crime story.
