Love this movie. I don't like horror movies because of the annoying suspenseful music, but I enjoyed this. No need for frightening music to capture the suspense in this movie.

Shhhhh. Be very, very quiet. We're hunting humans. A cameo by Elmer Fudd would have been a stroke of genius. Oh well, maybe next time...

Not too long at around 84 minutes before credits role. This helps a lot. Movie does have some awesome moments. Though of course I'm not giving away the plot or ending, ehhehhm like some comments below.

This film is a remarkable accomplishment for a first time director. Clever script, solid dialog, fantastic performances, and sharp direction. Well done!

John Krasinski's post-apocalyptic horror feature is one inspired by some of the greats, especially Ridley Scott's "Alien" films. Like those pictures, the story is full of jump scares. Often, this doesn't enthuse me since it tends to focus on action over story. However, Krasinski's script, co-written with Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, has intelligent layers to it and shows a lot of promise for his future as a writer/filmmaker.

My personal opinion: Not a materpiece, clever in some regards, entertaining certainly. Quintessential example of people making poor life choices in a dystopian future. Suspend your belief in logic and you’ll enjoy it for the movie fun it’s meant to be. Pro tip: don’t raise dumb kids, you’ll punish yourself needlessly otherwise.

Violence: One character steps on a protruding nail, expresses pain, and pulls her foot off of it with lots of blood. Some uses of guns and there are images of blood and injuries. There's a particularly intense scene when a child is drowning in a grain silo.

The movie begins on Day 89 after some humanity decimating event. A family is prowling a store and collecting items, particularly medicine for a sick child. It is obvious they are trying to be very quiet. The youngest child is trying to find a toy and he chooses a little space shuttle. The rest of the family does not want him to bring the space shuttle because it makes noise and is "too loud." As the family leaves the store you notice they are all barefoot and they slowly make their way home. The family communicates in sign language and indeed the oldest child is deaf. It is very clear that they are terrified and surviving the only way they can.
