This movie is beautiful in such a precise Wes Andersony way. It has a great cast and the dogs are all very good. The main faults are the Smurfette syndrome (there is only one female dog with a speaking part) and if you were looking for anything resembling realism you'd be disappointed. I loved it.

This was a strange and weird dvd I must say and my teenager did not understand it and thought it was a clay movie. I find the dogs very interesting and how intense they eyes were and them expressing themselves. Also the idea that living in a society were your forced to comply with a society where the people are dealing with a kingdom or a government which is controlling a situation for their own wants and tries to make people believe a certain idea is the worst such as the current situation of the USA and other countries also. I feel people must not let a dictatorship have control over people and we all need to express how wrong and it is not acceptable to be forced upon.

Absolute perfection in storytelling: I started watching and could not get enough of these characters. The animation and art design are wonderful. The music, specially the drums, are unforgettable. I truly believe it is a masterpiece that cannot be replicated.
Isle of Dogs is not for everybody, but this movie is destined to become a cult film, because of its own merits and uniqueness.
The ending is optimistic, and left me with a warm feeling of happiness.
This movie has motivated me to learn to write Haiku.
I literally cannot wait for the next Wes Anderson's movie.

Not for kids.
This is much darker than Fantastic Mr. Fox, with cussing and detailed discussion of doggie-suicide.
Dogs die, and then there's a quick moment of humor to sell it.

Set in the future. I recommend this one. It is a tale that makes you think about things that are going on today and how we treat stuff and everyday minor choices we make.

Excellence in art. Variety of creative storytelling. Hand painted animation, clay, plastic, paper, a wide variety of media use. In this aspect alone, well worth a study.

As a story it uses humor, a child and animals to voice clear and ongoing moral subjects of planetary resource, waste, and animal use for profit and science. It expresses vicidly the dark side of these taboo subjects. Political corruption is addressed as as well.

It is a clear commentary on the evil nature of humanity to use fear, media, politics, to manipulate, destroy and torture those who can not vote or fight back (children and nature / animals).

The constant human struggle between those who honor nature and believe all life is worth respecting and taking into consideration when making decisions for profit, science, etc.

...and those that do not. The war between those that believe all in power can do as they please regarless of consequences, and do not believe that nature, animals or children have value or rights. They believe that everything is merely a “product” and has a price and expiration.

The story is told by the animated dogs.
Children, well educated and intelligent save the discarded dogs and the little boy.

It is an intricate mix of dark humor, reality, moral questions, art, power of love, truth eventually being told... timeless subjects and laws.
