In this neighborhood, danger lies close to home. A domestic thriller packed full of secrets, and a twisty story that never stops—from the bestselling author of The Couple Next DoorHe looks at her, concerned. "How do you feel?"She wants to say, Terrified. Instead, she says, with a faint smile, "Glad to be home."Karen and Tom Krupp are happy—they've got a lovely home in upstate New York, they're practically newlyweds, and they have no kids to interrupt their comfortable life together. But one day, Tom returns home to find Karen has vanished—her car's gone and it seems she left in a rush. She even left her purse—complete with phone and i.d.—behind.There's a knock on the door—the police are there to take Tom to the hospital where his wife has been admitted. She had a car accident, and lost control as she sped through the worst part of town. The accident has left Karen with a concussion and a few scrapes. Still, she's mostly okay—except that she can't remember what she was doing or where she was when she crashed. The cops think her memory loss is highly convenient, and they suspect she was up to no good. Karen returns home with Tom, determined to heal and move on with her life. Then she realizes something's been moved. Something's not quite right. Someone's been in her house. And the police won't stop asking questions.Because in this house, everyone's a stranger. Everyone has something they'd rather keep hidden. Something they might even kill to keep quiet.

I liked the way the suspense continued to build. This made me eager to come back to find out what happened next. The ending was satisfying. The ending had a hitchcockian feel to it. I continue to roll my eyes at Jim.

Well written for the genre, but short on plot and twists. Personally enjoyed Shari's debut novel more. Nonetheless, entertaining and worth your time.

Well this was a bit of a mess, I don't know if I really liked any of the characters... that said I did enjoy the little twist and the unreliable narrators. It was a pretty quick read for me and it certainly kept me going until the end.

You'll never see the ending coming!! Lots of suspense and after reading this good luck sleeping at night. Read the couple next door and an unwanted guest by the same author. Will keep you up at night. Lots of suspense!!

I LOVED her first book, The Couple Next Door, so I thought I'd give this one a read. The writing wasn't the greatest, but it had a really great story I think. I would recommend this book if you're looking for a good thriller

The writing was not compelling for me. The story seemed predicable and honestly, I couldn't read the whole thing. Boring and poorly written in my opinion.

I would recommend her first book, The Couple Next Door over this one. I will be reading An Unwanted Guest when my hold is ready as well. This book had a lot of 'telling' versus 'showing' and that can bog down a story. I would also have preferred to read this story from the first (multiple) person narrative and not third person. It can be difficult when a breakthrough author has such success with the first book and not so much the second. Hopefully the third book of hers will bring back the excitement that the Couple Next Door did for me.

This was a compelling page-turner for me. The challenge was to figure out how the charge of murder for Karen would be dismissed. A surprising ending for both women.

She’s remarkably composed. It’s almost as if he’s watching someone else, an actor, playing his wife.

Suspicion is an insidious thing; doubts have started creeping in, things that he’d previously been able to ignore.
