I am NOT a fan of Spade’s. In fact, I’m an anti fan...if he’s in something, I don’t watch it. I’ve never seen anything he’s in. That said, I’ve wondered how he is a “celeb” and I think he dated Heather Locklear, and to paraphrase Bob Lefsetz (if you don’t receive his Letters, you should...get on his email list) what kind of crazy, F’d up world does this happen? So, I got the library audio book to try to figure this out.

Will admit that I liked the book way more than I thought I would. He had a poor upbringing and put in the hours and effort to make it as a stand up comic.

The book ends after his time on SNL.
Because he’s wanting future gigs, he doesn’t want to piss off anyone everyone* and every venue or event was great.
* except Rob Schneider, where apparently it’s common knowledge that their friendship is over.

This book is very funny and an easy read.

I was hoping for more insight when David worked on the tv show Just Shoot Me and Rules of Engagement but these are barely mentioned. He spent most of the book talking about being a writer and cast member of Saturday Night Live.

Still I would recommend it. :)

4.5/5 STARS!! Very funny good read. Read it in two days.

Some funny moments, but this is overshadowed by the consistent objectifying/putting down of women. Lots in here about his childhood and SNL, nothing about his sitcoms.

I enjoyed the book except for Spade's nasty negativity about women (obviously, he has not grown up, and explains why he lives alone). The SNL parts were interesting.
