This three-season British series is some of the best television ever created. The mysteries are hard to figure out and the writing and acting are terrific. David Tennant and Olivia Colman are heart-breaking as the lead detectives. Tennant is the outsider in this town, a failure at his previous detective job trying to regain his reputation in a town that hates him. Colman is the long-term resident who knows everyone and has trouble with objectivity because she can't imagine any of her neighbors as killers. The secondary cast is also excellent.

The real star of the show is the town of Broadchurch, which hides several crimes under the guise of a nice British seaside place. Everyone knows each other and any major crime affects everyone. Plan time to breathe and to take a walk between each emotional episode.

A beautifully made British crime drama. It takes a minute to get into but very well-done all around. A great show if you like British TV and crime shows.

Dark, compelling, intelligently written, and characters you care about. Phenomenal series.

The Brits excel at crime /mystery series. This no exception, human, tense ,surprise conclusion.
Not necessarily a happy ending, but real.

Wow. Complex plot, with lots of characters. Plot twists point to all kinds of suspects along the way. \\ A typically excellent performance by Tennant, supported by a very good cast.

Just about as perfect a "Who Dun It" as you will find! The detectives are vulnerable and emotional in the way they investigate a murder. Absorbing episodes that leave you wanting to see more. A great film work on 3 DVD's, so you will have plenty of hours of enjoyment!

I do not share the enthusiasm of others ... this new wave of soap crime drama is just not my cup of tea. I watched the first few episodes of another similar TV series "The Missing, 2014" and gave up on the rest ... I stuck to the end on this one but just cancelled my nearly-ready-to-pick-up hold on second season. The same review applies to this series: "The ambiance and actors were very good but the on and on details on peripheral character studies and endless list of suspects often got me reaching for the fast forward button ... "

Well-written and acted whodunit, though patience is required as it slows to a crawl sometimes. At this pace, one has time to notice little things like the infernal opening theme (couldn't understand any lyrics), the writers terrible disdain for the media, and the fact that almost every main character is accused of the central murder at some point. Not to mention the soundtrack playing rumbling, grating ostinato every time something bad is about to happen. Despite these objections, the drama unfolds and the viewer must keep watching to reach the unexpected conclusion.

This series will take you through the various lives of individuals who live in a small Dorset town and how they are changed forever after the murder of a young local boy. Detective Inspector Hardy tries relentlessly to find the murderer of Danny Latimer and uncovers dark secrets about numerous people in the community, from his father to the local vicar, which are, unfortunately, eaten up by the media and eventually turn friends and family against one another. I found myself always trying to remember each clue and figure it out before the end. It is a moving TV series and had me very involved in the wonderfully written story line. I personally enjoy British murder mysteries but think that others who enjoy thrillers and drama would find themselves intrigued in this series. I cannot wait for the next season to arrive!

Really good show. But if you watched the American mini-series a few months ago "Grace Point", same exact show. Starred David Tennant also who is very good. Per someone elses comment, it does compare to the American version - just as good. Same exact storyline.
