I LOVE THIS BOOK! Especially I'm Asian so I LOVE DUMPLINGS! I never ate some of the dumplings in this book before. I ate Dim Sum before with my family. This is a good book to read to your family!

I looked up on the internet the different types of chinese dumplings and the recipes on how to make them. Reading the authors descriptions of the food and places made me hungary and want to go visit Taiwan.

Review title: Summer Surprise.
This was a delightful novel. It is great for encouraging readers to enjoy their culture and heritage and the importance of exploring your family history. Grace Lin did a great job of drawing readers in to the world of Pacy as she went to her parents' homeland and learned many wonderful lessons. With a well-developed storyline and characters readers are sure to be fascinated by Pacy's tale of her summer adventure.

It's one thing to feel like an outsider when you're the only Asian girl in your class but when Pacy and her family travel to Taiwan, where her parents were born and where she looks like everyone else, she still feels out of place. Pacy meets many relatives but she is unable to speak or understand Chinese which makes her feel like an outsider even more. Her art skills seem to have disappeared when she attends an art class where she must paint with only a brush and black ink. Pacy is sure that this will be the longest month of her life.
