Thought it was great! What a good actor and we miss him. A spirit detective movie like a live action Yu Yu Hakesho.

Book was way better. The girl was fake but super hot, I never imagined Odd with curly hair, waaaay too much narration, and that narration spelled things out for you too much. Wish they had played the ending differently, but it was still good.

I was totally surprised by this. Just when you think you've got the plot all figured out it changes and you find yourself going " I didn't see that coming". I would love to see a sequel. 4 stars out of 4.

Awesome movie! Has the perfect blend of story, acting and special effects. I was delighted to find that Odd Thomas was a different kind of paranormal movie that deals with the unseen and Odd's gift to perceive them and influence events as a result. Perfect movie for the whole family, although the monsters may be too much for very young children. This film makes me want to go out and read the books. I only wish it had done better at the box office. Quality material like this gets overlooked while garbage like "The Hunger Games" gets eaten up like candy. Sigh.

Update: Anton Yelchin, who played the title character Odd Thomas, died tragically on the same day i made this review. My deepest condolences to his family and friends; he was a fine actor and it's a shame we have been robbed of his presence. RIP!

A little too cutesy in the dialogue for my taste, but well suited for younger viewers, I imagine.

WOW! Saw the trailer while viewing another movie and HAD to see this. This is not some cheaply done B-movie at all. The FX are the new state of the art type quality...and the story adapted from a NY Times best seller by Dean Koonst is merely EPIC!

Yes....it gets a little campy here and there, but never boring. The protagonist and his girlfriend are really loveable and witty. The originality trumps big Hollywood productions such as the Divergent/Hunger Games dreck that has mass appeal but lacks the CLEVERNESS and IMAGINATION of this little gem.

Like the fairly recent "Now You See Me"....this one deserves not only a viewing...but a sequel.

BRAVO!

Anton Yelchin plays the perfect Odd Thomas who just adores his Storymy Llewellyn. If you are a Dean Koontz fan of his Odd Thomas series I hope you were pleased about the transition from book to screen. Oddie is just a guy who see's the dead and try's to help them so they can leave this world. With the help of the Chief of Police he is able to solve crimes that are not above the law. This is a comedy, friendship and love story and about a "fry cook" who tries to do the right thing! Five stars *****

I don't know how i have never even heard of this movie! For one thing, I have loved pretty much everything I've seen Anton Yelchin in since 'Hearts of Atlantis' came out, amazing actor. Also, just my kind of show in general and I Loved it. Funny, creepy, interesting characters, great storyline. Definitely watch it.

Odd: Have I ever told you you've got a lot of issues?
Penny: I'm a woman. We all have issues. It's what keeps us interesting and you men interested.
Odd: Oh, yeah. It's what makes us crazy and die younger.

Self Intro:

My name really is Odd. According to my mother, it was a screw up on my birth certificate. She says I was supposed to be called Todd, after a Lithuanian uncle. My father insists my name was always Odd, and he notes that all of my uncles are Bulgarian. My father claims
my mother is insane. My mother, of course, begs to differ.
