Not as good as the first movie, but still good.

Despite how boring the first Thor movie is, Dark World feels like a whole different ball game. It's serious in tone, with lighter moments that make for an interesting combination of suspense and humor. A very well done addition to Thor's storyline. This movie does a much better job of portraying Jane Foster, but yet again, Darcy steals the show with her funny and quirky lines.

Thor: the Dark World is a 2013 American superhero movie, the sequel to the 2011’s Thor. It was directed by Alan Taylor as the eight film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). If you had just seen this films successor, Thor: Ragnarok, you might come to the false assumption that all the movies in the Thor films were as fun and engaging. This film does not fit that trend. It is viewed by many as one of the weakest, if not the weakest film in the MCU. While Loki has proven to be one of the best MCU villains so far, the big baddie in Thor: The Dark World is supremely dull and boring. There was absolutely no depth or development for the villain, he was just another person for Thor to defeat. The story isn’t terrible, but there are no memorable moments either. While writing this review I find myself having to constantly refer back to the film, as I have already forgotten what happened. Yes, it isn’t a good Marvel Movie, but that is also due to the high standard set by the studio on their other films. That being said, as a big Marvel fan, I would still say watch this film despite its shortcomings. 2/5 Stars. @Joaquin of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Thor The Dark World is a sequel to the original Thor movie. In the beginning of the movie the audience learns that the gods of Asgard fought and won a war against Dark Elves, an evil race of beings. When the gods conquered them, the survivors were force to be neutralized. Their most powerful weapon, the Aether, was hidden in a secret location, unbeknownst to the gods. Back in the present, Jane Foster, Thor’s earth girlfriend, finds the Aether and becomes its host. This gives Thor no choice but to bring her to Asgard before she is captured and the weapon is used to destroy the Nine Realms. If you enjoyed the first Thor movie, I would definitely recommend watching the second. This time it most of the scenes do not take place on earth and we get to see Thor more in his own element. However, this movie is definitely darker and scarier than the first, hence the title. The action scenes and all the battle scenes are very entertaining to watch but in this movie, not all characters make it out alive. I would rate this movie four out of five stars. @Sapphirereads of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Long after Thor's first visit to Earth and his return to Asgard, Jane Foster becomes the host of the Aether. It's up to Thor to bring her to Asgard before the Aether lands in the wrong hands creating the end of the Nine Realms as we know it. Honestly, with it's mediocre special effects and a weak clichéd storyline, this movie just didn't do it for me. I found Jane Foster to be completely unnecessary, and I preferred her friend Darcy much better. As expected, Tom Hiddleston's Loki once again steals the show, making him the only interesting character in the whole film. It was almost a step backwards from the first, so I wouldn't recommend watching this one. 2 Stars @Ruby_Tuesday of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

I didn't really like this one. I found myself spacing out because the story wasn't as strong.

I love the Thor movies. The brothers go on a quest to save the universe from an old enemy, and avenge their mother's death.Loki is a scene stealer, they had a lot of humorous moments that were excellent. Good action, and very entertaining. Not too dark for young fans.

Loki's addition to the movie gives it a sometimes humorous touch, since he obviously isn't the main villain.

Loki: (holding up his cuffed hands) Do you still not trust me, brother?

Thor: Would you? (smiles and undoes the cuffs)

Loki: (rubbing his hands together) No, I wouldn't. (Stabs Thor in the stomach)

Erik: (seeing Thor) THOR! Your brother's not here, is he?

Thor: Loki is dead.

Erik: Oh, thank God.

(Anger crosses Thor's face)

Erik: I mean, I'm so sorry.

Loki: As you wish. I'm not even here. (Transforms into an Asgardian guard) Is this better?

Thor: Better company, anyway.

Loki: Still, we could be more inconspicuous. (Transforms himself back. Transforms Thor into Sif.) Hmm, brother. You look ravishing.

Thor: (looking down at his body) It will hurt no less when I harm you in this body.

Loki: Very well. Perhaps you would prefer one of your new friends, since you seem to enjoy their company so much. (Transforms himself into Captain America.) This is much better. Costume's a little much. So tight! But the confidence! I can feel the righteousness surging within me. Hey, wanna have a rousing discussion about Truth, Honor, Patriotism! God Bless America!"

(Loki) I thought you said you knew how to fly this thing?
(Thor) I said, "How hard can it be?".
(Loki) Well whatever you're doing brother, I suggest you do it faster.
(Thor) Shut up, Loki.

Odin: One son who doesn't want the throne, another who wanted it too much. Is this to be my legacy?

Thor: Loki died with honour. I shall try to live the same. Let THAT be your legacy.

Odin: I can not give you my blessing, nor can I wish you good luck. Even if I could, it could only come from my heart. Go.

[Thor offers up his hammer]

Odin: It is yours, if you are worthy enough to wield it.

Thor: I shall try to be. Thank you.

Loki: [appears from Odin's guise] No... thank YOU.

Rest of Review is in Comments Section: *******Tinkering, Thinking, Thoughts: (1) Fandral, a red headed, comic relief guy, he had seemed to me to be a lot like the man garbed in black, the hero, from “Princess Bride” movie, this because, he having great sword swashbuckling, fencing skills… and he having this dapper-dan, gung-ho, devenaire demeanor to boot! (2) About time they, the creators, made Loki to look like a champion chevalier (although, at most, it may have been but in temporary guise, a makeshift illusion)! (3) Clothing: I noticed, and maybe I’m wrong here, a sort of trend among the cape colors worn. And as if we were in some Star Trek Enterprise episode, those who were wearing yellow were generally going to die… while those donning red garments, like Thor and/or Odin, lived! Once again, I could be woefully wrong! (4)Some light, laughing, moments of levity came from when Thor and Dark Elf Lord Dude fervently fought! (5) Places of Interest: (The Nine Realms of the World are approaching an inevitable violent, and potentially problematic planetary catastrophe)… And these are the three places of interest within this, Thor's second movie: Svartilheim: the dark elves kingdom… Asgard: the cosmic kingdom, and pantheon place, pertaining to Valhalla, and its Norse champion race… Earth: humans mostly inhabit this place and refer to planet they live on as with this listed, nominal name… (6) I generally felt well immersed into the Asgardian world as that had been where most of film physically remained during movies' daunting exploration. And so, while when discussing misanthropy and how I feel about watching and hearing humans in movies, I am most merry where when I am most seemingly far away from what others would call home! And so Thor mostly met that criterion of mine. So… Rating for Thor as this being his second movie, I rate, a rating of: 5.0/5.0; Xandor Who... *********Characters and Character Summaries: Relatable or not relatable? Of course they’re relatable… aren’t we as well, a giant galactic, cosmic colossal family?! Thor: Is Odin’s official son; he is Lord Over the Thunderous Cloudy, Heaven Skies; he wields and handles his hammer, the magnificent mallet, Mjoliner… Loki: is Lord of Illusions and is Master Magician Trickster; has nefarious intentions at times; he is highly capable in transforming simple parlor tricks from his fantasy into other people’s realities; he is Odin’s unofficial son or is Odin’s official stepson; he is noted as being a trickster; he is pissed at his father, Odin, and his brother, Thor, for what he believes is lack of respect from them due to him… Jane Foster: Thor’s Earthbound girlfriend, who becomes the unlikely wielder of the cosmic, Asgardian, special air, it being called Aether… Odin: Husband to Frig and Father to Loki and Thor; he is also known as the All Father; he is King of Asgard… Malekith: he is the dark elf warlord in this movie, and he is trying, yet again, to harbinger in an end of the world scenario as like when he had tried from many millenniums ago… Heimdell: an oculant, seer-like, oracle-like, specialist, who vigilantly keeps eye over the rainbow bridge and eye over all of the Nine Realms… Frig(ga): Thor’s wife, and it is she, who cares for both her sons, Thor and Loki… Bohr: Odin’s Father and is one who fought the dark elves from eons and epochs ago, and in an enchiridion book, it says that he, Bohr, had seen the dark elves defeated and destroyed… Darcy: Jane’s friend; she wears a dark red cap and is openly plucky… Lady Sif: an Asgardian, guardian, female warrior; she is as a thorn in Thor’s bare butt behind, this because she pesters him about his venturing off to Earth to where he would visit his girlfriend… **********Tags Summary: Norse mythology, Norse deities, super heroes, warriors, weapon wielding warriors. -X; Who
