The author presents a conversational view of the adolescent mind - reminiscent of a Mr. Rogers for teens. The book is written for both parents as well as teenagers. This is a strength and a distraction. The author makes a number of unsubstantiated assertions that the reader is expected to take on faith. For example, certain of the exercises are claimed to promote brain growth. And then there is the shibboleth that brain cells are killed by consumption of alcohol - damaged yes but outright killed no. Overall though, the author expertly frames the adolescent mind and provides examples so that parents perhaps may provide the appropriate guidance when some issue arises.

Highly recommended for any parent trying to understand their child as they grow up. If you are an adolescent, there is plenty to learn from this book. I wish I had someone who would've told me these things when I was young.
