I expected to love My Planet - it is Mary Roach, after all - but couldn't tolerate the reader. I suspect if I had been reading these essays they would remind me of Nora Ephron's I Feel Bad About My Neck, but I won't know for sure until I've cleansed by palette and tried reading later.

We listened to this #audiobook on our way to and from Vancouver last week for a little Christmas break getaway. My daughter and I laughed all the way there and back, mostly because the author's husband shares so many quirks with my darling, though she doesn't try to hide any of her own pitfalls. It was a perfect #roadtrip book.

The choice of Angela Dawes as the reader is unfortunate. She does not understand the voice. Her delivery is angry, hard and nuance-less, making Mary Roach's smart humor grating.
