For a YA, it seems a little on the boring side, but as a real world problem it's pretty well written. The fact that at the end Dol suddenly falls in love with Lucas, just for showing something bad he did and not having at least a bit romance between she and Ro makes me really angry. But all and all, it's a mysterious and captivating book with ALL THE FEELS.

It's an interesting book, though not one that I felt compelled to keep reading. I liked the lack of romance, it always makes me happy when authors leave relationship crap in the background. I don't see why she felt the need to put in a rushed relationship development at the end. Sure, it was obvious enough that it was going to happen, but she made it just happened so quickly at the end for no apparent reason.

I loved the story line of this book, however the supporting details weren't outstanding and it is also very similar to the "Lorien legacies" series. The book just didn't do enough for five stars. Overall it's a great book, and for anyone who loves a good dystopian novel.

I loved the book. I could barely put it down for a single minute, wanting to know what comes next. The book is completely jam-packed with all my favorite things: betrayal, jealously, a weird, and, honestly, a bit awkward love triangle, and, to top it all off, a total cliff-hanger in the end. The book was like a way better version of The Host by Stephenie Meyer and then added a weird love triangle from Twilight. Absolute amazingness. Can't wait for IDOLS, coming out this July.

Couldn't get into this book really, but the concept was interesting, as were the inserted historical documents. I did like how it was set in a recognizable location. However, I couldn't sympathize with the narrator nor get a hang of the timeline of the plot.

"Years ago, the alien Lords killed a billion people when they attacked Earth with their giant, electromagnetic Icons. Only the "Icon children" - kids with strange emotional powers - survived the attacks. When Icon children Dol, Ro, Luke, and Tima meet, the four teens start to wonder about the origins and potential uses of their mysterious powers. Could they actually have the ability to overthrow their alien oppressors? With heart-pounding romance and adrenaline-pumping action, Icons will leave you breathlessly waiting for the next book in this new dystopian series from the co-author of Beautiful Creatures." Icons is an extremely original book that ended up hooking me from the first page. The thing that made Icons good was the way that the author brought the characters to life.
The action-packed plot was exciting and the romance in the book made me fully connect with the character. This fast past plot made me want to finish the book quickly. This is from the same author that wrote the Beautiful Creatures series and it has the same sort of feel to it. It takes a while to fully understand what is going on with the aliens, but you eventually get to it. All in all I can't wait to read the next in this alien infested series.

Great book to begin summer with! Action-packed from the very first page, Margaret Stohl brings her character's to life and knows how to pull on her reader's heart strings. An alien invasion story, but it focuses more on the humans reaction to the aliens, as opposed to actually interacting with them. First in a new series!
