Batwoman is an out and proud lesbian who got kicked out of West Point due to DADT (Which now has been repealed. hip-hip HOORAY) The thing I love about people is that people underestimate it, when it does such great works and has such great characters. I didn't know much about Kate Kane, but after reading this I will wholeheartedly delve into the series. Amy Reeder and Richard Friend's artwork is visually stunning to look at. I would love for their work to be on my wall, it's a little busy at certain parts at the book. Yet, it makes you pay attention to the detail as it pertains to J.H. story line. Defiantly one of my new favorite female super heroines.
Reed this a while ago & really enjoyed it. I remember Batwomen's character being daring , sullen, risque & facing a really twisted enemy. I was very impressed. I'm happy to say Volume 2 is final available for hold now in the library. Can't wait to read it !
Easily the best offering of the new 52. This book is about Kate Kane and her adventures as batwoman. The writing is superb and the art is well on par. A must read.
Perhaps it's 5 stars because it so exceeded my expectations. JH Williams III pulled out the art stops to make this book special and he more than succeeded. Excellent capery. It's the only way to go with Batwoman, super powered art, because she is so unbelievable. But the Bat is the strongest thing going in the DCU (in all superhero comics in my opinion), and an opportunity to exploit it can't be passed up: ergo Batwoman, Batgirl, Batman Inc, etc, etc. Anyway I am looking forward to reading the next GN.
One of the best of the New 52 series from DC, this is the first volume of the series. It largely sticks close to what the character was before the reboot- though one notable character is absent from the proceedings- telling the story of Batwoman contending with a mysterious set of deaths, while being hunted by federal agents, assessed by the Batman, and coping with her personal life. Williams and Blackman have a good take on the character, and the art has a moody, dreamy effect.
