Amazing how someone can be so naturally intimidating and calculative, even as a little boy. But that's Hannibal Lecter. This book really helps to bring that clarity and explanation to Lecter's character that, I think, many of us readers were curious for. Understanding the horrifying truths of his childhood, in my opinion, justifies his search for vengeance. And seeing how he began and ended up as the Hannibal Lecter we all have come to know is amazing and enthralling to unfold.
