Lisa Gardner really has mastered the thriller. I suspect that the story was easier to get into having read the earlier Quincy/Rainie books because I was already invested in the victim. I also suspect that Gardner knows most readers already know Quincy and Rainie because she hits the ground running, not having to take as much time as usual to introduce the victim (though it still takes a while to figure out who the heck Dougie is).

Fast-paced. Twists and turns. Likable characters. I enjoy this author a lot.

This book took a little time to get off the ground, but it finally became a good page-turner. The author really goes out of her way to beat up her protagonist (Rainy) and it seemed a bit over-kill. Although I never did guess who the kidnapper was, I'm not sure she gave enough clues for any reader to have guessed. Overall, it was a good read.
