Two separate stories merge, one of a suspicious fire with a charred body and the other of a kidnapped young girl. Good character development of Kincaid and James. The custody battle of Kit is finally resolved or is it? There may be a few too many characters as it sometimes was difficult to keep track of all of them.The several twists and plot lines made this a very good and thoroughly enjoyable read.

One of the better in this series from a mystery standpoint. Lots of seemingly unrelated things going on that all come together at the end. Not too much to advance the overall story arc with the characters. I can't believe, no matter what was going on, that Duncan would miss Kit's hearing! Oh well, conflict pushes the story along.
