This is a fairly entertaining series about Catherine of Aragon; the daughter of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand who arrives in England to marry the Tudor heir Arthur but eventually ends up with future King Henry VIII. The story sort of stays within the general historical record but there is a few tweaks here and there to make it a bit more soap operaish with Catherine and Henry being thwarted from marrying in every episode by the evil Tudor dowager queen. Charlotte Hope(Myranda in Game of Thrones) is quite charismatic in playing the feisty and clever Catherine who overcomes all the Tudors complicity to take her destined place as the Queen of England.

True or not, or even semi-true, I enjoyed it!

This a typical effort to turn history into a soap opera, so that any resemblance to the actual history of England is purely coincidental. The production values are high, but the stellar cast can only deliver what the script requires. Inaccuracies abound, but just imagine that the story happened in a parallel universe and you can enjoy it for what it is.

Exquisite costumes and settings. Some good acting. Some not so good. Suspenseful palace intrigues with world-changing consequences roll out on screen but at a painfully slow, melodramatic pace.

LOVED this. Starz knows to be classy when depicting violence and sexual content. Although it's historical fiction, the depictions are fantastic. This show has made me want to read about Catherine of Aragon and her sister (especially her sister!) Joanna or Juana La Loca or Joanna the Mad Queen! I can't wait for season 2, since Harry is really historically King Henry VIII. A must see!

Season 2 production is underway for fans of this series that began when Spanish princess Catherine of Aragon began her arduous journey to fulfill her destiny: Daughter of Spain, wife to Prince Arthur and Queen of England. A few scandalous twists worthy of modern daytime soap serials. Wish more subplots on the warrior Queen Isabella who overthrew a thousand years of Muslim rule during most of the Middle Ages (5th to 15th century) as the story began in the year 1501, dawn of the Early Modern period (16th century to 18th century.)

2013 The White Queen – Elizabeth Woodville, queen consort of King Edward IV of England. ★★★

2017 The White Princess – Elizabeth of York, daughter of Edward IV of England and Elizabeth Woodville, and later wife of Henry VII and mother of Henry VIII. ★★⅔

2019 The Spanish Princess – Catherine of Aragon, princess of Spain and her rise to power in England. ★★★★
