This movie is fairly enjoyable and is considered a groundbreaking musical. It has scary parts of Nazi violence and threats of violence. It tends to be a bit of a chimera, partly of the 1920s, the 1930s, and 1970s. Sally's 'look' is 1920s…

Enjoyed this 1970's classic, rather heavy subject matter conveyed light and entertaining, some hints ensue. The actors were in several classics of that period as well.

Cabaret is an important work and it's definitely a part or the cinematic canon. If you're a film buff, then this belongs on your list of movies to watch. Bob Fosse really did a wonderful job getting peak performance out of Liza MInelli…

Great musical numbers, great story, great choreography, great imagery, good cinematography. Just done spectacularly, its unfortunate that so many new musicals fail at some of the most basic aspects of creating a film. (Looking at you The…

The story of people in Berlin in the early-’30s, all of whom are trying to find their own identities; but above all to find acceptance from the toughest judge in existence: themselves. How often have I seen this? Considering it’s…

1972 Rated PG 13. A very good story about a flamboyant free-spirit American EX PAT female singer living in 1931 Berlin when the Nazi's begin rising to power. SALLY befriends an Englishman and also makes her crazy rounds in Berlin…

Set against the back drop of pre World War II Germany, young American Sally Bowles struggles for stardom while the Nazi Party continues to grow in support, slowing exerting their influence into German society.

A worthy candidate as one of the best musicals of the later 20th century, Best Actress winner Liza Minnelli does a wonderful job as Sally Bowles. The mixture of wartime and metaphorical stage acts are entertainingly handled by Joel Grey,…

Set in Berlin, Germany (1931) under the growing presence of Nazi domination - 1972's "Cabaret" was a musical-drama whose tangled story of unfulfilling personal dramas was set in and around the infamous Kit Kat Klub. For the most part, I…

Hello, darlings! - 1972's "Cabaret" has both its fair share of good moments, as well as its not-so-good moments, too. But - With that said - This musical-comedy-drama is certainly worth a view.

I was very pleased to see that "Cabaret" was on Netflix, and so I watched it! It is a great movie, and Joel Grey and Liza Minnelli totally and completely deserved their Oscar wins, and Bob Fosse also deserved his Best Director win!

Liza Minnelli is absolutely amazing as Sally Bowles in this film! Not to mention Joel Grey reprises his role as the MC. Having seen the Broadway version, however, I'm not happy with all the changes they made. It seems that musicals made…

GREAT 1972 film which won 8 Academy Awards - and deserved them. Lisa Minelli is particularly enchanting and does some fine dancing. Joel Grey is terrific as impish MC at interesting setting at 1931 Berlin's Kit Kat Klub.

*Movie quote* - "Divine decadence!" OK. Aside from Liza Minnelli's somewhat abrasive singing and her hideous eye make-up, as well - (Along with the story containing some totally unwelcome Nazi-glorification in its "Tomorrow Belongs To…

GREAT 1972 movie starring Liza Minnelli at age 26. I recently gave a listen to one of Liza's music CDs - she's a talented singer. Now I see what a terrific actress she is, too. Must be quite a help (and a challenge) to be the…

Berlin in the 1930's, and you are in the smoke-filled Kit-Kat Cabaret. This 40-year old film continues to retain its magic over time. The backdrop depicting the rise of Nazism in Germany provides an interesting undercurrent amid the…

Brilliant performances and music. Entertaining, but also uncomfortable at some points, so not a movie for kids...
